JCOM 2160 Reading Netiquette

I thought the readings were great because etiquette is a very important aspect in the business world. Some people might give or take a job based on an individual's etiquette. Cyberspace shouldn't be the exception. I really liked the pointers it made out. One of my favorites was about not forwarding everything to everybody on your mail list. It refers to mail list as being a "dirty word" if you make it that way. People don't like to hear that their grandma's dog is going to die unless they email the message to 500 people in the next ten minutes. It only takes up inbox space and time, which both are annoyingly full a lot of the time. The message I got from the whole reading in a nut shell, was to treat people with respect and the same courtesy you would as if you were speaking to them or relating with them face to face. Being behind a computer seems to make people think their masked identity makes it okay to be a jerk. It's not. Be courteous to all you meet, whether through the screen or in person and the business world will be a much more friendly and inviting place.
